olpc india

Above pic is form the OLPC deployment in India in Khaira, i found it when i was reading Venkatesh Hariharan’s blog he says
It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm with which the teacher, students and parents had embraced this project. Definitely one of the more fun things that I did in 2007 and something that I look forward to in 2008
well OLPC looks a promising project and well well Intel has left the project now due to some “philosophical differences” i know they joined it because AMD was there, whatever but i wont have much impact………….

    Philosophical Differences?
Intel is going the Microsoft way! Its promoting its Intel powered Classmate notebooks and trying to spoil the OLPC project by selling its notebooks at a loss.

Remember sometime back M$ CEO Steve Ballmer asked the OLPC people to redesign the laptop with more space, such that Windows can also be accommodated if students want. Again dirty politics! Why cant M$ roll out a special lightweight version of their OS? A lightweight version is available but it still taken a whooping 2GB space.

Well the parting of Intel wont make much differences, this noble project must not stop at any costs!

And one more thing! I cant get the play going on in the OLPC camp. Its true that Intel is not bound to abandon its Classmate project, but is it correct that it has been pressurized to give up its project or just a accusation?
OLPC project needs Intel otherwise its arch rival AMD will get most of its processors deployed around the world. Surely OLPC is getting much more media attention than any other similar project. One point is very apt - “OLPC is the pioneer in this field….”

Actually AMD has been there with the OLPC before intel joined hands so even if intel leaves it doesnt cause a huge impact
